PROBLEM

No access to affordable rental vehicles

The current car rental landscape lacks an efficient platform that offers affordable and reliable rental vehicles to users while also ensuring a hassle-free experience and additional earnings for vehicle owners. This gap in the market results in challenges for both rentees and vehicle owners, including issues related to pricing transparency, safety, communication, and rental management.

RESEARCH

Understanding users & their painponits, Identifying the market & potential opportunities

Very early on in this project, I wanted to know how users (car owners) felt about renting their personal vehicles to strangers, what would be their worries & what measures would they like to be put in place to make them comfortable renting their vehicles.

To help me get the insights I needed, I conducted a survey with these 3 questions & shared them with vehicle owners. I created 3 categories & used the card sorting technique to group the data gotten from from owners. This allowed me to identify trends & patterns.

INSIGHTS & ANALYSIS

Potential with conditions

From my card sorting analysis, I've noticed that when favorable conditions and a well-defined structures are established, vehicle owners are open to generating additional income from their vehicles.

DESIGN

Design Direction

Initially, I took some time to contemplate the design direction – whether to opt for a web-based solution or a mobile app-based one. After careful consideration, I recognized that for daily usage, a web-based solution could be more of a hassle than a benefit. I concluded that the same desired effects could be achieved efficiently through a simple smartphone app. Hence, I chose to stick with the app as the final platform for my solution.
